World Standard – Designing High-Performance Windows

A high-performance window isn’t a single product … it’s a system. Frame, glass, hardware, gaskets and, critically, installation all have to work together. One weak link and the whole system may not reach the high levels of performance required by the National Construction Code, especially in relation to energy efficiency.
Today we’ll work through that system end to end: what makes a window high-performance, which window and door types suit the task, the NCC compliance requirements that shape specification and why installation can ultimately decide whether the performance you specified is the performance you get.
At the end of this presentation, you should be able to:
- Explain what makes a window high-performance and why frame, glazing, hardware and air-tightness must work as an integrated system
- Identify which window and door types are suited to high-performance applications and which to avoid
- Outline the key NCC compliance requirements affecting windows; and
- Understand how installation quality affects performance.
