The Changing Face Of Educational Design

Right now, the way architects design schools and universities is in the process of transformation. The changes they are putting in place are set to have significant impacts on not just the look and feel of educational institutions, but on those who learn and work within them.

Thanks to a combination of increasing population density and limited suitable space, the days of low-rise buildings and traditional classroom layouts have passed. The subsequent move towards multi-storey educational facilities brings with it not just benefits, but also a host of new considerations and challenges.

In this CPD Live session, titled “The Changing Face of Educational Design”, we shine a light on this important change. Our speakers identify the efficiency of modular design in this context; examine the ways designers can create multi-purpose environments and facilitate sensory learning experiences; and more broadly, address all the challenges associated with projects of this type.

During his time as the Queensland State Technical Manager, Aidan has worked extensively with Regulators, Certifiers, Architects, Building Designers, Engineers, Builders and Contractors providing technical assistance for a variety or CSR’s brands, including Cemintel, Gyprock, Hebel, AFS and Himmel, across products and systems. Working with numerous and complex systems, Aidan helps to educate diverse stakeholder groups from a wide range of perspectives including fire, acoustics, thermal, structural, NCC compliance and general product information.
