Smart Bathroom Design – Connectivity, Insight & Sustainability

Beyond style and aesthetic appeal, the key considerations when designing commercial bathrooms centre around adherence to guidelines, the maintenance of hygiene, and sustainability.
The good news for specifiers is that, right now, they have a set of sophisticated tools to help them meet these broad goals. Thanks to the Internet of the Things – and the related notion of Smart Design – they are well-placed to deliver bathroom spaces that are not just welcoming, efficient and hygienic, but also sustainable.
As we shall see in this session of CPD Live, this new-found capacity comes down to digital connectivity and the insights that it brings. It involves collecting data (relating to bathroom behaviour, appliance use, and so on), and harnessing the insights it delivers to inform design choices.
Beginning by outlining the factors that make all of this possible, our speakers will present examples of Smart Bathroom Design in action. They will identify the factors you need to replicate such success in your next project.
At the end of this presentation, you should be able to:
- Identify general considerations associated with commercial bathroom design.
- Explain how well-considered design and the acquisition of data via. digitally connected bathroom fixtures can improve the water efficiency of commercial bathrooms.
- Outline the role that data-informed design choices can play in improving the sustainability of commercial bathrooms.
- Outline how data-informed design can help improve the standards of hygiene in commercial bathrooms.
