openBIM – the Future of Architecture
Digitalisation has arrived. As is the case with most other industries, data and connectivity have begun to transform the construction sector.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is key to this change. Tools that empower architects, designers, engineers, and others to create digital representations of their work – and in so doing reap a range of benefits – BIM systems have been hailed as the way of the future.
That said, the revolution has not been without its challenges. The most significant of these has centred around what to do in cases where various stakeholders working on the same project are using various BIM tools. Many continue to ask if there is a way to ensure connectivity continues, despite the fact different software systems are in play.
The answer to this question is yes. The advent of openBIM has made it possible for even the largest construction projects – those involving numerous stakeholders – to employ BIM and reap its benefits.
This CPD presentation is intended to shed a light on openBIM. Addressing common misconceptions surrounding openBIM, our speaker will explain what it is, how it works, and why it really is the future of architecture.
At the end of this presentation, you should be able to:
- Define the term Building Information Modelling (BIM) and outline the ways it is used in the construction sector
- Outline the difficulties that can arise when different BIM systems are used by various stakeholders working on the same project
- Define the term ‘openBIM’ and explain how it is able to overcome the issue of working with different BIM systems on a single project
- Outline the benefits associated with the use of openBIM and explain why it has been referred to as ‘the future of architecture’
