Navigating Weatherproofing Certifications & Standards for Cladding & Façades

There are several factors to keep in mind when specifying external cladding and façade systems. Beyond design considerations, the materials chosen should be durable and easy to maintain. They should be sound in terms of thermal performance, environmentally sustainable, acoustics and fire safety.

And they should be waterproof. Dependent upon local conditions, façade systems need to be able to handle everything from extremes of heat and cold, UV exposure, rain, wind, and even snow. Specified appropriately, they can be relied upon to deliver long-term performance and a suitable return on investment.

With this in mind, in this session of CPD Live, we focus on the weatherproofing certifications and standards that apply to cladding and façades in Australia.

Beginning by explaining the potential negative consequences of installing products that don’t meet weatherproofing requirements, our speakers will identify the regulations and standards that apply in this context. Outlining the pathways to compliance, they will shine a light on the types of external cladding products that can be relied upon for not just aesthetic appeal but a long, effective service life.

At the end of this presentation, you should be able to:

  •   Explain the importance of waterproofing when specifying external cladding
  •   Identify the regulations and standards that apply to the waterproofing of external cladding materials
  •   Outline the pathways to compliance in this context
  •   Identify cladding products that meet the relevant waterproofing regulations
