Aluminium Ceiling Grids – Benefits, Compliance & Design Considerations

There are several factors that specifiers should consider when choosing ceiling grid systems. Beyond their function – as frameworks with which to suspend panels or tiles and conceal wiring, pipes and so on, in commercial applications – they should be visually appealing.

On top of this, ceiling grid systems should perform well in terms of acoustics, fire safety, moisture resistance, durability, and maintenance requirements. And they should be structurally sound and comply with seismic requirements.

With all of this in mind, in this session of CPD Live, we shine a light on aluminium ceiling grids as alternatives to products made of steel.

As our speakers note, products of this type are generally extruded and not rolled. Though significantly lighter than steel ceiling grid systems, they provide similar levels of strength. Simple to design, they are also more flexible and easier to work with than steel alternatives. They are corrosion-resistant and can be customised to suit the requirements of specific commercial applications.

Outlining everything you need to know in terms of installation requirements and regulatory compliance, and highlighting real-life examples to illustrate their points, they will identify the many attractions of these reliable and versatile products.

At the end of this presentation, you should be able to:

  •   Explain the purpose of ceiling grid systems
  •   Outline the functional requirements of ceiling grid systems
  •   Outline the regulations that apply to the installation of ceiling grid systems
  •   Identify the attractions of aluminium products in this context
